2013 Oscar Noms: Reactions of a Fangirl

Time for some caps lock, guys, and you know they're coming. Here is the full nominee list I am using. Let's do this:

CATEGORIES PEOPLE KIND OF CARE ABOUT:
  • LES MIS is a Best Pic nom! Excited and surprised that's become my favorite for this season, I think.
  • DJANGO for Best Pic as well, surprised kind of but also happy. Will this get Leo in a seat at the Oscars??? I don't think so and that makes me want to die.
  • 9 BP NOMS and I have only seen 4, ugh. (LET'S JUST SIDENOTE THAT I LOVE LINCOLN AND ARGO ALSO THERE'S THAT.) I guess I can see Silver Linings easily enough but I am not interested in any of the others really fml.
  • HUGH JACKMAN LANDS HIS FIRST OSCAR NOM FOR LES MIS AND DEF SHOULD HAVE BC HE WRECKED ME GUISE, JUST WRECKED ME, TEARS AND SNOT EVERY WHERE ajsdlkfjaskdfv afdgh
  • But DDL will win instead so wahhhhhh (even though I love him, too ... win/win I guess...?)
  • Also, just read an article about JOAQUIN PHOENIX yesterday and how he hates the Oscars so CONGRATS DUDE ON YOUR NOMINATION.
  • Oh Denzel surprise didn't see you thar!
  • Seen NONE of the movies where are lovely main lady noms come from but my girlfriend JESSICA CHASTAIN is in there so WOO HOO I guess.
  • OH LOOK BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR THIS SHOULD BE WEHRE LEO- wait wut?
  • WHAT?
  • WUT IS THIS ..? SHOCKING NO LEO DICAPRIO IN THAT CATAGORY OHGOD WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?
  • this girl. this girl would have thought.
  • I am so far beyond being ragey about this by now that I just feel a piece of my soul die each year Leo isn't nominated when he should have been so... basically yeah.
  • Each time Leo doesn't get nominated for a great role, it means the Academy has created another horcrux.
  • OH BUT CHRISTOPH WALTZ FROM DJANGO IN THAT CATEGORY? Even though he was arguably the star of the movie? OKAY THAT MAKES SENSE NO BIG DEAL Kasj gkadfhjknsghunfairrrrrrr
  • FML bc Leo ain't gonna be at the Oscars look fly in a suit.
  • LOOKING SO FLY UGH
  • ANNE HATHAWAY got a nom, OF COURSE, for my fave, Les Mis!!! Hopefully she'll win bc I am so over Amy Adams. I love her but I don't get why people think she's this great actress ..(.I've NEVER been very impressed with her. Just in Junebug and in Catch Me If You Can. The. End.)
  • Wow 5 animated noms... snore.
  • Now for the Directing SNUBS, er... I mean Noms. LOOK, NO BEN AFFLECK. AND NO QT? Ok, fine QT, this was not his best work (though it may be one of my personal faves), but BEN... I just think he deserved a nom for Argo over some of the others lifeofpi or beasts, I loved it. Seriously. srsly. ALSO NO HOOPER FOR LES MIS. Just realized...w ut?
AND NOW CATEGORIES NO ONE CARES ABOUT BUT ME!
  • ANNA KARENINA IS IN CINEMATOGRAPHY AND COSTUME OH GOD EXACTLY WHAT IT DESERVES. It was such a beautiful movieeeeeeeee
  • (Remember when I had hope for Keira to have an Oscar nom this year? PAHAHA, welp. At least I am not disappointed bc I didn't expect. And won't expect one for a while since she's decided to do that Adam Levine movie with the worst title in history, "Can a Song Save Your Life?" the answer is NO)
  • Ugh and I just love Les Mis in costumes, and Lincoln... and I know I was the only one who loved LAWLESS.. but I WISH it were in that category as well bc those costumes were great. Hardy in a cardy 5ever.
  • Hey look, documentaries happened this year...
  • Argo for film editing... Lincoln too, even though that movie was super long. It didn't feel that long... no Django bc let's be honest, Django WAS too long. but i still loved and enjoyed it calm down sheesh
  • ANNA KARENINA FOR SCORE ALSO OH GOD MY HEART.  My love affair with Dario Marianelli knows no bounds.
  • And of course, the only reason they added a song to Les Mis is so they could be nominated for an Oscar and it has paid off. HUGH PLEASE PERFORM IT AT THE CEREMONY OKAY? OKAY.
  • AVENGERS GOT A NOM bahahahah forgot that was a thing, guys, I totally did. Yay tech awards, I guess.
  • At least QT got a writing nom. And so did Moonrise, which I am rooting for for my fran who loves that movie.
THE END.

The New Hollywood

I've been in a Oscar withdrawal coma for the last few weeks and have SEVERELY fallen down on the job of writing  consistently. For that I apologize and hope no one has forgotten about me! Since the Oscars, and even before with all the nominations, I have been compiling a list of the new generation of actors coming up. I can't wait to see what these young guns have in store for us based on what they've shown us in the last 2 years or so.

Emma Stone has been consistently awesome in comedies for the last few years and finally had her own movie that she carried beautifully, Easy A. Plus it got her a Golden Globe nomination and perhaps landed her the part as Gwen Stacy in the new Spiderman reboot. Jesse Eisenberg has been making movies for a while, but this year he was finally able to throw off the "Michael Cera clone" stigma and show his true acting chops. That boy starred in a movie many feel was the best of 2010 and earned himself an Oscar nomination. Beat that Cera. Jennifer Lawrence, a newbie, gave a rough and rowdy performance in Winter's Bone and got an Oscar nomination first time out. Now her name has been thrown around to star in a few up an coming blockbusters, one is The Hunger Games.

Carey Mulligan, after a wonderful performance in An Education and an Oscar nom last year, starred in a film called Never Let Me Go and landed the coveted role of  "Daisy" in the new Leonardo Dicaprio movie, The Great Gatsby. From a humble beginning as the middle sister in Pride and Prejudice, I'd say Carey is well on her way to super stardom. Then we have Joeseph Gordon-Levitt. I think it could be easily argued that he's part of this. Even though JGL has been in the business forever, this year he's reached a new level of stardom. He's gone above just independent films that, sadly, not many people have seen (So many of them are AWESOME), and has gotten starring roles in huge movies. Last year he was the heart and soul of (500) Days Of Summer, earning him a Golden Globe nomination. This year he was in Inception, one of the biggest blockbusters of the entire year. Now he's landed a role in Nolan's next Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. This is the beginning of his time!

Chloe Moretz is a young lady that shocked me this year. With the talent and cool head of an adult, this 14 year old has held her own in roles that some actors twice her age couldn't do. I first saw her as the knowing little sister in (500) Days of Summer. Then she became the bad ass Hit Girl in Kick Ass, destroying bad guys with a side of snark. Then most recently she played the solemn, vulnerable, and terrifying Ellie in Let Me In. What she does next, based on what she's has shown, can only be completely awesome. Then there's Hailee Steinfeld who, first time out of the gates, slams home a performance that doesn't just earn her an Oscar nomination at 14, but also allows her to outshine the likes of Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges. Plus she carried herself through awards season with grace and poise. Now she's the front runner or favorite to play Katniss in the new Hunger Games series (I truly hope they pick her!!). She has proven only that she is a force to be reckoned with and the best part is she's so humble she probably doesn't even realize it.

Andrew Garfield is one of my personal favorites of this past year. I saw him in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and then in Never Let Me Go. I liked him a lot in both, but it was The Social Network where he truly blew me away. I went back and started watching more where I saw him in Boy A. The movie was shaky, but his performance was solid as could be. Now he's our new Spiderman. I cannot wait to see more of what this man can do. Another of my personal favorites is Saoirse Ronan. She was fantastic in Atonement, and then of course in The Lovely Bones. That performance made a believer out of me. Now she's rumored to be in Peter Jackson's newest project, The Hobbit (!!!). And let us not forget the Harry Potter kids, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint. The series is finally (sadly) over and now is the time for these young adults to show us what life is like after Harry Potter. And I have a feeling it's going to be awesome. Daniel is on Broadway, his second stage show. Emma is at Brown University, but just recently took off for "new endeavors," while Rupert is making movies with Emily Blunt and more.

No one can ever see into the future; we base what to expect on the present and the past. Based on all of this, I'd say entertainment has a pretty exciting future. Can't wait for all to come from these guys.

Oscar 2011 Party/Reactions!

It was FINALLY the Oscars last night, the night so many film nerds were waiting for, and I couldn't have spent it at a better party.

MY PARTY!
I decorated my apartment and I got all dressed up and had two of my CRAZIEST Oscar friends over to watch and squee with me throughout the ceremony. It was a glorious time. Fun was had by all. I know that a lot of people are giving the ceremony some flack, but you know what? To me, the Oscars is such a beautiful tradition. No matter what, I think it's special and deserves some respect just for being what it is: a chance to see so many of our favorite stars all in one place, dressed up and mingling with each other. It's ok to celebrate that phenomenon and pay it respect  no matter what film you wish had won, or how you wish the awards would have been announced, or who you wish would have been there. It's classic Hollywood being revived once a year, and I like it. A LOT. So that's what Ashlie, Stacy, and I were celebrating last night! Along with rooting for a few of our FAVORITE people/movies.

Yes we EVEN had our very own red carpet! Which Stacy, Ashlie, and I walked when placing our DELICIOUS snacks on the dinner table. Ashlie made all these wonderful things for the party (all her ideas!), and each dish represented one of the 10 Best picture Nominees! Check it out. This may be my favorite part of the entire night... (well.... maybe besides Christian Bale's win! But we'll get to that). BEHOLD:

Look at all the lovely goodies! Firstly, some Oscar shaped cookies. MMMMM.
THE BP FOOD!
Irish grilled cheese (complete with ACTUAL imported Dublin cheese) for The Fighter!

Black Swan cupcakes. Complete with a bloody red center!

True Grit balls (fried grits!), and tater tots to represent Mr. Potato Head from toy Story 3.

FAVORITE. Trifles with LAYERS to represent INCEPTION. OH MAH GUH!

Red wine for The Kids Are All Right.

These are the cutest. The outside are Winter's Bone-less chicken nuggets, and the pigs in a blanket are supposed to be for 127 Hours. It's an arm stuck between a two rocks.

English Toffee for The King's Speech.
The food was just amazing! And we had so much fun chomping on it and preparing it (sometimes at the same time) while the red carpet was being covered on E! Ever so often someone we loved would arrive and we'd all drop what we were doing and run in our heels to stand in front of the TV in awe and squee a little bit. Then we'd rush back to the kitchen and try to finish what we were doing before the ceremony began.

WE FLY.

Here's what my reaction face would be if I won an Oscar

Here is Stacy's best try at the Helena Bonham Carter

And then.... it was TIME FOR THE SHOW!!!!
CEREMONY REACTIONS!

The show, overall, for me and my gals, was so much fun! We love Anne Hathaway and James Franco and even though they weren't perfect, they were so much fun and just adorable the entire time. I especially loved Anne's musical number. She needs to be in a musical....tomorrow.

As for the awards, I think last night was one of my favorite Oscars ever. I had seen all 10 best picture nominees and I liked so many of them that I didn't really care which one won Best Picture. Of course, there were two awards that I REALLY needed to go my way, or they had the potential to really ruin my night. One was Best Actress, which I needed to go to Natalie Portman. Thankfully it did, and that sweet little vessel of life got her first Oscar! She accepted the award in her deep purple Rodarte dress and just glowed with emotion. Such a sweet moment.

The other award I needed to go my way (especially because it was early on and could have really messed up the night) was Best Supporting Actor. Christian Bale, as most of you know, if one of my favorite actors. I've loved him going on 7 years, and all Bale-heads feel the same way: that Christian Bale is the most under-rated, under-appreciated, and over-looked actor in the entire world. So when the buzz began for him earlier in the year, I didn't want to get my hopes up. Then he actually got nominated over and over until the Oscars nominated him, too! He had to momentum all season, but getting close people started to doubt. Especially since he lost the BAFTA to Rush of The King's Speech, which was gaining momentum. As they announced the nominees, Ashlie (who loves him just as much as me, if not more) and I were holding hands. We couldn't stand it! They finally announced Christian's name and Ashlie and I completely freaked out. What a victory for him, and for his fans who have always felt he deserves this honor! I think Ashlie even teared up during his speech. It was emotional, haha.

Here's Christian's speech:

And here is Ashlie and I reacting as it's happening:
It was truly a magical moment! And just overall a magical night. And to share it with two people I know care about it as much as I do and won't judge me for getting excited about the little things... that was the best part of all! Now I just can't wait for next year!!

VMAs Red Carpet

Don't really have a top 5 best or worst of this awards show... it doesn't lend itself well to real fashion rules. So I'll just post pics and give my opinions. Enjoy!

Katy Perry looks AWESOME in this dress. It's kind of like it was made for her. The make-up, the colorful hair... This look is VERY Katy Perry, if I can be lame and just describe her as herself. But I think that's when she works the best. She is more of a commodity than her music sometimes, I feel, and if she keeps being all cute and goofy like she is, I bet she'll continue to be successful.

Jane Lynch is wearing some sort of Matrix-esque cape/trench coat. But even though it's really weird, it works for her, and especially at an event like this. She seems like a really cool, lesbian super-hero. Is that ok to say? Because I mean it in all the best ways! I love her.

Justin Bieber looks like he's trying REALLY hard to be Justin Timberlake. And Usher. At the same time. But little does he know, he's actually a teeny white douchebag. I HATE it when young, pre-pubescent-voiced white boys talk as though they are mid to late 20-year-old black men. It's DUMB. And I especially dislike when the aforementioned type of little white boy tries to dress much cooler than he actually is. It's like when he lip-synced on stage as though he's a real performer... but he's not. I try not to hate, because I understand the teeny-crazes. I mean, I was a Hanson fan when they were the teenies (and GOD do I still love them, so I know it can translate into real love some day)... and so I have always supported the Jo Bros... but I ... just... I just CAN'T with this one. Sorry!

Paramore! The boys look fine... like a normal band. But Hayley... um... I like the dress... the shoes are weird, but COULD work if it weren't for her make up and bad hair do. I always love her color, but slicking it back in a teeny bun to where only her bangs show... it's not flattering. And even if you do that... at least do her face up nice instead of making pale and washed out.

Selena Gomez caught some flack for this dress, but I think she looks BEAUTIFUL. It's sexy, but not slutty... it doesn't seem like she's trying too hard. She looks great! I'm excited to see Selena transition. I have a feeling she'll do it with much more grace and poise than some OTHER Disney kids. (Not referring to Miley... or am I?)

Um, Evan Rachel Wood... can we say ILL FITTING? This dress fits SO BADLY I cannot even tell what part of her body is what... where are her boobs?! And why is her waist/hips so strangely shaped? This dress loses. Sorry. End.

Ke$ha... I almost felt dirty spelling her name with a dollar sign, for the record... But this ENTIRE look is gross. Bad hair, dress that looks like it's made of a garbage bag, weird furry thing around her neck, and then make-up that makes her eyes look even squinty-er. Really? Why is dressing dumb all of a sudden supposed to be chic? Or maybe it's just that trash is in right now. The only good thing here are her shoes.

Lady Gaga, another whose fashion can only be described by her own name, actually looked more normal than usual for herself. This entire look, however, was not the first time she has ever worn this. She wore this in a photoshoot she did for Vanity Fair. I thought it was interesting that she chose to walk the red carpet in this. Though, perhaps this is the only one of the 3 she could actually walk in.
Love her!!!

That's all I have, now I want to hear your thoughts in the comments! Let me know!

Top 5: Best/Worst Dressed Emmys 2010

I know it's been a whole week and I am WAY late ... but whatever. Here are my top 5 Best and Worst dressed of the Emmys last weekend. Also, Guiliana Rancic was uber harsh on the Fashion Police and it was annoying. OMG. Get over yourself! You're becoming less and less likable!

Anyways....

First off, THE WORST:

5. Eva Longoria Parker in Robert Rodriguez: Um, can we say boring. Black, tired silhouette, tired hair do.... and she's carrying a clutch which for some reason really annoys me. I'm just... over it. Plus the fabric that the skirt is made of looks like tufts of lint. Her earrings were pretty though.

4. Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta:  I love her but I'm so tired of this... and that hair do is really boring. Try color next time, Tina, and I may like it better. But black every single time... even with neat shapes, doesn't cut it. PS. Not the biggest fan of dresses with sleeves.

3. Christina Hendricks in Zac Posen: She is SUCH a bombshell, but this look isn't anywhere near as great as the green dress she wore last year to the Emmys, and the shape of this one isn't as flattering as it should be. The rousing is a nice detail, but it just doesn't come together completely. Also, again... the sleeves make me unhappy. I think the color is good for her, but that's about all this dress does well. Sad to say, not my favorite. Her make up and hair do also don't flatter her beautiful face. Not the best look.

2. Mindy Kaling in Aguri Sagimori: No... just NO. I Because her hair is SO out-there-80's-prom-do it makes the ENTIRE thing look stupid. The dress MAY have worked had she down played her hair... but she made some bad choices. It totally threw everything else off. I do like her shoes, though.

1. Rita Wilson in Prada: When I heard that this was a Prada gown, I was HORRIFIED. I could not believe it. But then again, perhaps on someone else, this would have been a vision. However, on this poor Mrs, it's just awful. I love Mrs. Tom Hanks as much as the next person, but I cannot stand by while she commits such atrocities in the fashion world. Rectangular shaped, not flattering, with a chain-mail-like drapery to finish it off? And the same irritating chandelier chimes on the shoes??? Ok... the shoes are kind of awesome, but still! And that HAIR? She hardly looks like herself... So disappointed in this. So strange.

And now, THE BEST!

5. January Jones in Versace: At first I couldn't decide if I liked this or if I really didn't like it. I think after a week of trying to decide, I really love it. It's weird... there ARE clams on her breasts... but the color is just too WOW to not enjoy. And I like the front and back and how you get the effect of both a short dress and a long one. She was bold and took a risk and she deserves a lot of credit for that. Because she also was successful!

4. Heidi Klum in Marchesa: Heidi is a freaking BOMBSHELL. I never get tired of seeing these legs on the red carpet, and regardless of age, if your legs look like this, SHOW THEM OFF. This little mini dress is bold, and although it's black, it has some awesome details to help it to stand out. Plus she pairs it with sexy pumps (that I would DIE for) and a beautiful bold necklace. Make up is flirty and sultry with a sassy updo. SO good. PS. The Fashion Police on E!, specifically Joan Rivers, said she was a slut for wearing this and too old. Sorry, bb, but YOU are the old one and if you had legs like this, I'd encourage even YOU to wear this dress. So suck it.

 3. Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen: A lot of people had a hard time with this look, but I thought that Anna looked so great. It was bold and unique. I mean, how can it not be.. it's McQueen. The top is really interesting with details over the sleeves and bust, but then the black of the bottom balances it out and keeps it from being TOO much. Also, it still has its own flair by being held up in the front with a train in the back. Her make up was flawless and her hair was elegant. I loved this look! One of the Fashion Police guys said that (even though they said she was on the worst dressed, omg wtf) they loved that she was the only one who really wore 'fashion.' <3

 2. Claire Danes in Armani Prive: She looked AMAZING. This sparkle gown makes her look like a goddess. She really looked glamorous. Hair color, make up, spot on. Beautiful.

1. Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta: Uhhhh, my vote for best dressed!! She looked so SMOKING hot in this little number. I can hardly handle it. The navy blue is so great with her skin tone, the shape and details (ruffles) are to DIE for. That sweetheart top really gives her more curvage... and those bangs. Sultry!!! So hot. Add the necklace... I swear its flawless. SO good.

7:19 - Awe, Jimmy is nervous. His little hand is shaking.

7:20 - Uh oh! Modern family takes another... is the reign of 30 Rock over? It looks like it.

7:24 - Awe, Tom Hanks is in the audience! How I love him. Supporting female comedy performance = Jane Lynch of Glee!!! So good! I love seeing new winners this year!

7:32 - Love Lauren Grahm's dress. And I just love Matt Perry... the end. :) Guest actress and actor award about to happen!!! Betty White and my hero, Neil Patrick Harris! DEAR LORD I love that man. Wow, Ryan Murphy wins for Glee again. Love that blue blazer (of COURSE it's Tom Ford). You go, creator. Awe and he just dedicated that award to all his teachers. I love him now!

7:35 - AHAHAH! Stewie skit! Stewie + Modern Family = awesome. Oh no and then there's Clooney. I love this celebrity stew. It's so fun to see them all together randomly.

7:38 - OH SNAP! Lead male in a comedy! Who could it be? Jim Parsons of the Big Bang Theory. I have never liked this show very much, but I am happy for him. Hes so cute and nervous and I know lots of people who are happy right now.

7:43 - I just realized how badly I want Michael C. Hall to win the Emmy. This may hurt if it doesn't go my way. OH! My hero, NPH, is coming out on stage! What a BAMF. And best female lead in a a comedy is.... Nurse Jackie. This award show is ALL OVER the place tonight! I love it. Spread the love!

7:50 - Reality show competition.... Come on DWTS!! Winner = .... Top Chef.... hmf. Have NEVER watched that show. Ever.

7:53 - Wow, that last Oprah promo made me tear up. Haha! That lady gives away so many cars!

7:57 - Drama montage! WOO. WOA!!! When did McDreamy get shot?!!? DEXTER!!! That last scene makes me crazy... UGH so painful. Uh oh... Big isn't a good boyfriend in The Good Wife either. OMG TRUE BLOOD and GODRIC!!! Best scene of that show! Haha and ends with Lost... and I'm lost within that.

8:00 - Does anyone else think that the "DRAMA" banner they have up has been done in the "Dexter" font and style? And outstanding writing in a drama series goes to.... Mad Men. Uh oh... I hope the drama side of the Emmys is as all over the place as the comedy side... because Mad Men wins every year.

8:04 - Supporting actor in a drama -  Breaking Bad! Ok maybe it will spread the love, like comedy.

8:06 - Awe... that Dexter clip makes me cringe. I love him so much! Too painful! He needs to win! P.S. I'm missing True Blood for this awards show.

8:10 - Outstanding supporting actress! Who could it be? ... The Good Wife... Archie Panjabi. Very neat name, haha. She looks beautiful. AND OMG SHE'S FROM BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM!!!!!!!!!!!

8:12 - OMG Lead actor in a drama... this is it!!!!! Winner is... Breaking Bad. WOW. This show is cleaning up. WHEN THE HELL IS MCH GONNA WIN!? He's beyond amazing!! I AM POUTING.

8:18 - I think I am personally offended that MCH didn't win. Haha. I am so protective of him as Dexter. I just love him.

8:21 - Guest stars drama = John Lithgow and Ann Margaret.  Let's see if he can name the correct network this time. :) Awe, I like John Lithgow even though he is the CREEPIEST ever now. Can Dexter PLEASE win this one??? Best directing.... DEXTER!!!!!!!! It did win!!!! So happy! Awe I am so happy right now. Now go back in time and give the Emmy to MCH also.

8:23 - BAHAHAA Jimmy dressed as Elton John! A tribute to the shows that ended this year. Cute. Oh, now he's something else... what is it...? Hahaha, Boys 2 Men. Now he's... something creepy for LOST. Oh wait.. OMG yes he is creepy and dumb. Green Day. I HATE THEM. But it's funny because he looks and sounds just like their lame asses. "The island, it was mythical, and in the end they died. I didn't understand it but I tried." Very good words for LOST.

8:32 - Best Actress in a drama - Kyra Sedgewhick. She is SO cute. And I love her and Kevin Bacon. Oh, wow first Emmy win. Good for her!

8:35 - Variety shows!! Love it. Let's see CONAN up there!!! I just glimpsed NPH! There's Conan!!! OH WOW they are REALLY sticking it to NBC for being douchebags!!! Everything they are showing is bashing them!! AH! Lady Gaga! All of her performances are amazing. Awe, the Hope For Haiti telethon! That was so special. DAMN I love entertainment.

8:38 - Variety show writing! Fun. Winner is... The Tonys! Wow... it's weird that another awards show is winning and award at the Emmys.

8:46 -  Awe Ricky Gervais just mentioned Christian Bale... because hes a tough guy... and that makes me so happy. AND He just bashed Mel Gibson. There you go. Olympics just won for best direction... for a variety show... I think? I'm ready for some "Best show" awards PRONTO!

8:52 - CONAN OBRIEN'S SHOW IS NOMINATED FOR BEST COMEDY VARIETY SHOW!!!! WHAT IF IT WINS?!?!?!? Ah, John Stewart won.... BUT OMG CONAN. Hmmm, maybe next time they should be more gracious. Or I might punch them.

9:00 - I just LOVED that Conan's show was nominated! It was the only late night show to be so. SUCK IT LENO. You're still a douche.

9:01 - Hmmm, George Clooney gets a humanitarian award. I don't really like him and haven't for most of my life. Never have found him attractive at all. But I like that he is being awarded this by his original ER girlfriend. Obligatory standing ovation ... let's see how he handles this. Will you be a douche? This is true, George. Bad behavior does suck up the attention, ie. Jersey Shore.

9:04 - "Break the news to Speilberg, you're running out of wars." Jimmy to Tom Hanks about TV movies and mini-series. LOVE IT.

9:14 - Wow, Clarie Danes looks so shiny. She is beautiful.

9:17 - Jewel. I'm inclined to laugh but since she's singing to a friend who died I think that would be ... insensitive?

9:19 - OH CRAP. Montage of actors who've died. I HATE THESE. They always KILL me. Oh Corey Haim. Sad. Awe, Gary Coleman... and Charlie! From Charlie's Angel. Oh Brittany Murphey. Ouch Ouch.

9:26 - Man, I wish I cared about all these mini-series. I mean I understand that these are the actual celebrities... but... I don't watch mini-series. Sorry...

9:29 - Awe, but I do care about Claire Danes! Yay for you to win your first Emmy! Sweet thing! BAHAHA she just said "Like, for serious." You are my generation, Claire. I understand you.

9:34 - YUM YUM YUM True Blood!!! Oh Alexander Skarsgard is making puns and it's painful for him and I love it! Now they've given the award... but all I really care about is seeing more of Stephen, Anna, and Alexander... MORE TRUE BLOODz PLEASE. Yay they are giving another award away! Keep talking beautiful people. OH MY GOD IAN McKELLEN! WIN WIN SO I CAN HEAR YOU TALK! Oh... Pacino. But he probably deserved it. :)

9:46 - I love to see Hanks up there accepting awards! I love that man. LOVE him. And so well spoken! And Temple Grandin wins and it's REALLY SWEET. But lady in white dress needs some boob control, poor thing. Top of her dress does not fit correctly.

9:50 - RICHARD FROM FRIENDS! Or Tom Selleck. We all know him for a different reason. OMG DRAMA SERIES!!!!!!!! Winner.... omgomgomgomgg is... Mad Men. I AM SO IRRITATED.

9:57 - Let's see if a comedy I like will win. Though I hardly care as much. Winner = Modern Family. AWE! They are so excited!!! This is special. At least it's a different outcome than usual.

Alright I'm out. Time to go catch the encore of True Blood!!!

Live Blog: Emmys Red Carpet 2010

Checking out E! to see the red carpet for the Emmys and live blogging it for you! Here we go! Get ready!

4:03 - OH my GOD! All of my favorite comedians from Chelsea Lately's round table are doing red carpet tonight! LOVE IT!!! Especially Ross.

4:05 - Bahaha, Loni Love just asked how the hell Two and a Half Men is still on the air. THANK YOU! It's SO DUMB! And then Guy just said it's only ok for Neil Patrick Harris to be above the law because he's cooler than Charlie Sheen. Also AGREE x 100000000!

4:09 - Oh Lord, help us all. Girls from The Hills... does this actually count  as TV?

4:12 - WOW, how much do I wish I were there in Cali right now!! ? It's so beautiful and... and ... wow *pout*

4:13 - Uh oh. Matt's girlfriend in her underwear in a Calvin Klein commercial...

4:16 - I cannot get over Katt Sadler's dress. I kind of freaking love it. OH, and now they're talking about Kurt's new love interest on the next season of Glee. He's a HOTTIE. AND, Portia De Rosi may take Steve Carell's place on The Office next season. I hope it's true because she's the only one I like on Ally McBeal.

4:20 - Sal is judging fashion early this year and it's awesome. She said that Charlize Theron's dress from the Oscars looks like cupcakes, and J-Lo's looks like Fed Ex packing material. HAH.

4:22 - Ross Matthews is so cute! I would love it if he ended up on Dancing With The Stars with Chelsie! (Nerd alert.)

4:25 - Ok... someone needs to arrive. Not seeing ANY celebs. I mean, I love the interviewers, especially Holly Madison ... but I need some actual stars. Let's do this.

4:31 - E! is whoring themselves out like crazy and still no celebrities. I don't care about The Spin Crowd. That man is mean. Give me some stars! Oh, now we're watching Ross learn how to dance with Chelsie Hightower! I'm happy now.

4:33 - Awe, they keep doing little behind the scenes flashbacks to great shows. First ER, now Will and Grace. I like it. DO FRIENDS NEXT, E!

4:39 - Hmm, so I see this show is actually the count down to the count down to the Emmys. Haha. I hope Ross is still around when the real Red Carpet begins!

4:43 -  Friends montage!!!!!!!

4:49 - Awe, I love Holly Madison. She is so cute! I don't care what the haters say. :P

4:54 - Tiny little girl from Modern Family... she's cute.

5:00---------------------------------------------------

Now the REAL stuff gets started!! Get excited, guys!

5:01 - Uh oh, it's Ry-Ry. the tiniest interviewer on the Red Carpet. Seacrest and Jane Lynch from Glee, let's go! Awe, and she's all feminine and stuff! Lovely purple gown. Very nice.

5:03 - Conan just tweeted that he's on his way!!!!!! And the Truebies are on their way, and I CANNOT WAIT to see Krazinski and his new wifey, Emily Blunt, who is my newest girl crush. HOLLA!!!

5:06 - Fimmy Fallon, a little over-energized talking to Seacrest. He must be all nervous. That's cute!

5:10 - Oh dear God... Jersey Shore talk? Can we NOT? I think I'll go into my protective comatose state while this happens.

5:12 - YAY! Glam Cam 360 is here! I love that E! does that. Some of my favorite pictures are from this camera. Go to Eonline and check out some old Glam Cam pics if you want to see how cool it is!

5:13 - Uh oh... Carrie-Anne Inaba arrived... haha. I love DWTS... but not her biggest fan. She was a bitch to Cody a lot of the time. Oh, and Kelly Osborne! DEAR LORD has she transformed. What a little beauty.

5:16 - Oh God... talking to the trash of the Earth, Jersey Shore. Seacrest just asked if any of them would be doing DWTS... PLEASE GOD NO. NO. NO.

5:19 - Carrie Preston (Arlene) From True Blood has arrived. Nice updo, interested multi-colored dress. The Truebies are upon us!!! Oh, and Kathy Griffin with blonde hair. She looks pretty from the shoulders up, but that's all I've seen so far. Hopefully we'll see more soon!

(SIDENOTE: I think it's important that everyone know who inspired me to start this blog and do this very thing, live blogging, and who is also doing a live blog as we speak: The amazing Fug Girls. Check them out, they are AMAZING and HILARIOUS!)

5:25 - JOEL MCHALE! So much win.

5:27 - Awe GLEEKS! Fin and Arty! Love it. And the kiddo who plays Arty is so articulate and down to Earth. I like him a lot. Especially in that little bow tie and Buddy Holly glasses. Oh yeah, and Kathy Griffin turns out to have strawberry blonde hair and a beautiful mermaid dress. TARA FROM TRUE BLOOD! Here dress is kind of nutty, like a white canvas with black paint spattered on it, and her hair is mussed up... but she looked BEAUTIFUL!!!

5:33 - Mark Salling from Glee being interviewed by Ryan. Just said he'd like to cast Amy Winehouse to cast as his love interests because she'd have to be worse than his character, Puck. Haha. Awe and he said he took the bus to the Emmys today. SO CUTE. Awe and was just introduced to Kim Kardashian, and was all shy!

5:36 - Kim K looks really classy tonight. No cleavage, no short skirts. Marchessa grecian gown beautiful in white with a loose updo. Oh and Lea Michelle is no being interviewed by Kim K, improve! This is cute... Lea Michelle looks GORGEOUS in an Oscar De Larenta black or navy mermaid dress with ruffles. OMG. SO AMAZING.

5:40 - Claire Danes! Sequence everywhere... is it pink? Cream colored? Gold NO IDEA. But she looks pretty and NOT washed out. It is Armani Prive, though. Reminds me of a toned down Cameron Diaz Oscar dress.

5:42 - GROSS GROSS GROSS. Tony Parker. I HATE HIM SO MUCH. He is SUCH a douche bag. And it makes me like Eva Longoria less because she's dumb enough to be married to him. Wow... more of a negative reaction than when Jersey Shore was on the screen.

5:43 - Lauren Grahm looks really pretty in that neat, asymmetric black and white gown.

5:50 - Made dinner and missed like... 5 people. Good thing I didn't recognize any of them. :)

5:52 - DEAR GOD KATE GOSSELIN... GTFOff the red carpet. I CANNOT stand her... dear lord. Oh goodness, Christina Hendricks just arrived in a mauve dress... and of course she looks like a bombshell. Delish!

5:58 - Julie Benz!!! RITA RITA RITA!! In a one-shoulder white dress. SO BEAUTIFUL. Love the sleek updo pony tail. SO classy!

6:00 - January Jones in Versace... GORGEOUS blue color. Not sure about the shape... clams on her boobs. I think I like the short front and long train.... but still not sure... may need a few days to decide.

6:01 - OH Tina Fay. In black... cap sleeved dress... but it's got details and sparkles on it... It's like black Oscar Delarenta details overlayed on a silvery dress... and Pretty low pony tail. A little too safe. As usual.

6:04 - OMG 360 Glam photo of Julie Benz!!! I am so excited! She is so beautiful.  She is channeling Naomi Watts.

6:08 - OH DEAR HEAVENLY LORD!!! Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer!!!! My favorite Truebie couple! They look GORGEOUS!!! She's in a black dress with a gold top and interesting embellishments... nice little updo. Wavy and classy. So breezy and sweet! And they're talking about the naked Rolling Stone Cover. Haha "Nobody is covering their own bits." So precious!!! Crushing so hard on them. Married JUST last Saturday.

6:11 - AND OMG Seal and Heidi! I cannot handle how freaking gorgeous she is. Tiny little Machessa mini dress. Black with embellishments. She should ALWAYS show off those amazing legs. Lose wavy updo. Seems to be a trend tonight. Amazing necklace. Sparkly shoes!!!! She may be on my best dressed list, omg.

6:16 - Oh wow, slit-to-the-hip Brooke Burke in white! Beautiful! MY HERO NEIL PATRICK HARRIS!!!!!! FREAKING YES!!! Says he's "Happy to be on the Glee train." Come back to it! Awe and he's being congratulated for expecting twins soon with his life partner. He's wearing a great grey suit with black panels. He looks precious. I LOVE HIM. "If you wait till your not working to have a family, it may never happen. "Why are you lecturing me?" Haha, Neil and Ry-Ry.

6:19 -  Kira Sedgewick in a deeper red. So beautiful. Cheryl Hines in a pale gray. She looks amazing. One-shoulder gown, light pink lipstick, and great straight bob. She looks amazing.

6:25 - Amy Poehler and Will Arnet! Congrats on the baby. 3 week after, Amy still looks gorgeous and fit! Nice light blue dress. AWE, and it's their 7th wedding anniversary. How cute is that??

6:28 - Did not realize that Julia Louis-Dreyfus's sister was True Blood. Interesting.

6:30 - Mmm... just noticed Lea Michelle's bangs. She looks sultry. Awe, and Steve Carell. :) Always adorable.

6:34 - Awe, Kristin Santos just announced she's pregnant! Congrats, lady!

6:39 - Just noticed that not one person on the carpet has really bombed... Everyone is pretty solid. Some boring choices, but nothing OMGWTF.

6:40 - JUST flipped to TV Guide and it's Alexander Skarsgard!!! So tall and delicious. And they mentioned Neil Patrick Harris may be part of the opening tonight. Please be true!

6:43 - UGH... and they said they saw Conan! He needs to be interviewed... is that against the settlement or something? Dumb. Flipping back to E! since the TV Guide interviewers are SO annoying. OMG.

6:45 - Um... John Krazinski? WHERE IS YOUR WIFE?  I am disappointed. Oh there she is! OMG she's so beautiful. Lavender, one shoulder, embellishments. OMG I NEED MORE EMILY BLUNT.  Awe and then they just showed Anna and Stephen again. They are SO cute. My two favorite couples on the red carpet at the same time!!!!!

6:47 - Diana Agron from Glee (Quinn), in a beautiful mauve and light pink dress. Lace overlay, ball gown shape. UH! Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C Hall just arrived! Jenn in a gray sequenced one sleeved gown. She looks beautiful. Hair swept to one side... LOVE them.

6:52 - Wow... that was NOT enough Emily Blunt. I need more. That was literally like.. 2.3 seconds of her and that's it. I'm pouting.

Summer Shoes: Fashion Philosophy

Summer is upon us! And that means new clothes and a new season of fashion for us all. So for the summer I decided I would be a bit more daring than usual in buying new shoes. Generally, I’m too scared to try anything new that I see, even if I like it, before I see others wearing it/them or whatever it happens to be. Then I regret not buying the item because I always end up getting it eventually anyways!

I’d have to say that this year was the first year I actually felt more comfortable and experimental in my own style than ever before, so when I realized that I had NO open toed shoes that I actually wanted to wear, I used it as an opportunity to expand and try something new. My favorite thing this season has been wearing boots with skirts, and going into summer I was kind of bummed that I wouldn’t be able to wear boots anymore. I mean, really, in Texas, it’s hard to ever wear boots without getting overheated regardless of season, but especially in the summer… there is just no way. Entering the mall last weekend, I was not sure if I’d be able to find anything I wanted to wear, but then, I came upon these (picture to the left!!!!).

It’s the best of both worlds! It’s a sandal, so it is wearable in the heat, but it’s also a boot, so I can satisfy my desire to wear boots with pretty much everything. And they’re sparkly with buckles and silver buttons and other things that aren’t useful but are pretty. I really like them! They're called cuffed sandals (many may already know, but it's new to me!). None of my friends have bought or worn anything like this, which made me scared at first to purchase them since I would have to figure out how I would wear them, with what, and what would others think… but then my husband told me to just get the heck over it and buy them if I liked them enough. So. I did. Thanks Justin!

I got a few comments about these boots the first time I showed them off, as though they were strange and completely outrageous, but these sandal-boots have been in the works for years. There have been many versions of these shoes before now, just not as boldly crafted as this pair. In fact, I would argue that the gladiator sandals that have been popular for a while is a version of this. Then of course, we got into the age-old battle of fashion vs practicality. But we all know fashion has very little to do with sensibility and much more to do with how what you wear makes you feel. It’s about expressing yourself and evolving and experimenting. Therefore, I don’t need my fashion to serve any purpose but just that.

My philosophy of fashion has always been that if you wear something with confidence and believe that you look good in it, then you will pull it off. You just have to believe it and carry yourself as such. It’s open mindedness and the willingness to experiment. Don’t put fashion “in a box.” That’s why amazing fashion icons like Gaga exist. Because they don’t question themselves, they just do it. Now that’s an extreme example, but it’s true. You could say the same for fashion icons like Sarah Jessica Parker and Dita Von Teese.

I recently was able to sit in on a lecture done by What Not To Wear’s Carmindy about how to look your best, and her philosophy isn’t much different. She spent a good 20 minutes trying to convince her audience that every woman is beautiful in their own way and that make up is only there to highlight, and not cover up. That every woman needs to enter into choosing their make up with a positive attitude. It’s not much different with fashion. Fashion is just an extension of how you choose to express and present yourself, and most anything you choose to wear you can pull off with the right attitude. It’s the same for the other side. If you’re closed to a certain style, then when you wear it, your discomfort in what you are wearing will show. Therefore, if I choose to wear shoes that aren’t quite boots and aren’t quite sandals, all that matters is that I enjoy wearing them and are confident in how I look in them. What others think shouldn’t really matter.

Of course, there are exceptions. You can’t go out in just anything, like a garbage bag and hot pink tights, and expect to be called a fashionista (*cough* LiLoh). But if you want to try a new style, but you don’t think you can pull it off, try it with confidence first before you write it off! You may surprise yourself.

The Dumbest Men in Hollywood

In honor of the, or [with politics being the way they are right now] at least ONE OF the most hated men in America, I decided to do a top 5 of some of the stupidest men who have ever set foot in Hollywood. That's right. I'm talking about men who were with women who were not only BEAUTIFUL and SEXY, but also SUCCESSFUL and FAMOUS. Yet, they STILL decided to cheat on their lovely wives. Behold, the Hall of Fame of Hollywood Douchery.

#5. Jude Law
Jude Law and Sienna Miller were a beautiful British power couple a few years ago. The two were engaged to be married in 2004, but then Jude had an affair with his children's nanny. I'm sorry but Sienna is not only a bombshell, but she's a talented actress and model. To me, Jude was an idiot to toss this one aside.

#4. Ethan Hawke
This one really upsets me. I absolutely love Uma Thurman. Hawke not only cheated on her, but the two of them had kids. When you cheat in a marriage, that's one level of low, but when you have two kids that's an entirely new low. How selfish do you have to be? On Oprah, Uma admitted that she was deeply hurt and it was a very hard time in her life. However, she was gracious and said something I think was so admirable:

"Blaming anybody doesn't make you feel better and when you have two children, I think, that's such a priority to protect them and to never lose sight of the fact that, even if you're in a fight or even if things are going badly, it's in their best interests that everybody comes out OK, so there's no winning. You bear two children with somebody, that's not a small thing. And then you can hardly talk to them and you need to and your children need you to and so you work on it and he's made an effort and I try to make an effort."

To me, the man is scum, but I'm glad that Uma can take the high road and look back on her situation this way.

#3. Ryan Phillipe
WHO could EVER cheat on such a precious person as Reese Witherspoon? I don't know either, but some how this piece of crap found a way. What goes through a man's head when they are about to be unfaithful to a completely gorgeous woman who they are committed to, such as Reese? It's just unreal to me, but as this list proves... it still happens! These two had the most precious story. They met on one of their earliest movies in each of their careers and they fell in love. They had two children. They were together for about 8 years. And then... infidelity. Of course there must have been other factors here, but please.... cheating is never ok. ESPECIALLY cheating on REESE WITHERSPOON, DUH.

#2. Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were like were like American Hollywood royalty in their time. They were THE most beautiful couple. The all-American, angel-faced man and the beautiful girl next door... surely one day they would have made the most incredible babies this world would have ever known. But alas... it didn't happen. I don't care what anybody says about Brangelina, the fact is Brad Pitt is a big fat cheater and Angie is a home wrecker and no matter how much humanitarian work they do together, that will not change. I've stopped hating the two of them, finally, within the last year. In fact, I quite like Angie now, but I'll never forget when Brad and Jenn were together and the then the pain he caused one of my favorite Hollywood sweethearts.

#1. Jesse James

Big surprise. But honestly... WHO COULD BE DUMBER THAN JESSE JAMES? Not just because his wife was AMERICA'S SWEETHEART, but also because even if neither of them were famous, Sandra would still be WAY out of his league... and even beyond that, look what he chose to cheat with! No honestly, there could not be anyone in this world with less sense in their head than this man. DUMB DUMB DUMB. And no one deserved this less. Sandra finally got an Oscar, and now she can never look back at that night or listen to her speech without it being completely tainted by his betrayal. It's just disgusting.

Comment me your thoughts! Who did I leave out? What do you think about what I said. Let me know your perspective on this.
