Top 5: Best and Worst dressed Oscars 2011

No intro necessary... let's just DO THIS! (Add your own individual comments per photo about these looks PLUS 20 others here!!)

WORST DRESSED

5. Amy Adams in L'Wren SCott
I HATE SLEEVES. Especially ones that are shaped like a muscle shirt some chubby guy in the gym made himself. I AM NOT OK WITH THIS TREND. Please make it stop. Also... I like the color and the shimmer... but other than that... it's boring. I don't like her hair down like that. It looks pretty but not dressy enough for the Oscars. Maybe if it were paired with a different dress it would look fancier... but no. Just no. This doesn't work like it should. Also... if you have no neck line you CANNOT wear a necklace. Especially one with a weird turquoise rock.

4. Marisa Tomei in Charles James
Um, not ok. UGLY. Not even a good color. In fact, the poof is a different color than the rest of the dress.  And the way it fits makes her little pooch show so much. UNCOOL STYLIST. UNCOOL.

3. Halle Berry in Marchesa
Well isn't THIS a big wad of tulle? And also it has an over-rated actress stuck in it. The top isn't bad... but then as your eyes travel down... um, yeah.

2. Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer
GAH. Not only is this dress a hot mess, but so is her hair. I don't understand these women who make choices that make them look old, but OH MY GAH STOP! She is already an older lady, but could look really pretty and young if she would just make better fashion choices. Her hair is just bad. It looks like she threw it up to go to the gym. As for the dress... it's just weird. And again... SLEEVES! I just... no... there is nothing more I can say. Fail.

1. Lea Michele in Roberto Cavalli
This is the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Um, it looks like she found Mistique from X-Men, clubbed her over the head, and then stole her skin to make this hideous dress. SLEEVES ARE NOT OK! NO MATTER WHAT LENGTH. PLEASE LORD MAKE IT STOP.

BEST DRESSED
5. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
At first I was like WTF? But the more I look at this dress, the more I love it. It's so strange and beautiful, it's like a moving piece of art. Especially the back! The details all over it are just gorgeous and Cate works it LIKE A BOSS.

4. Helena Bonham Carter in Colleen Atwood
What can be said? Helena rocks her own version of the red carpet every time, and she never disappoints. What she said this night was "I thought it better to celebrate film rather than fashion," and that was the inspiration for this Victorian-esque gown. Totally and uniquely Helena. You go, Bellatrix.

3. Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa
This sweet little thing, I just love her. And she looks precious. Just perfect. She has done a GREAT job this season dressing up and keeping it classy without trying too hard. Plus, all her stuff has been age appropriate. This one is gorgeous. I love that the top goes sheer and so the crystals look like they are just across her shoulders. So precious. And her updo has a head band to keep it young. She is one of my absolute favorites of this year.

2. Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture
She was just breathtaking! This color is amazing, the fabric is amazing... Ashlie made a comment that her chest looked amazing... all these things are true!!! She was one of my most anticipated looks of the night, and she did not disappoint. JUST GORGEOUS.

1. Natalie Portman in Rodarte
Oh my precious little vessel! (This has become my favorite way to refer to her. It may get old, but I LIKE IT.) She was absolutely my most anticipated of the night and SHE DID WONDERFULLY! I LOVED this dress soooo much. I loved that it was slightly higher in the front than the back so we could see her adorable shoes. I love that the top hoisted up her awesome pregnancy boobs in a classy way. I love that the fabric drapes across her bump without making it look huge but at the same time not completely hiding it. AND THE COLOR! SO gorgeous. She just looks perfect. It was absolutely what I hoped to see her do on the Oscar red carpet and she did it!

BONUS!!!
(Just some other things I loved about this weekend...)
Natalie Portman in Givenchy at the Spirit Awards from Saturday:
She looked ADORABLE!!! I can hardly handle it.

RDJ and his wife, Susan, in Prada at the Oscars:
I CANNOT handle how awesome Robert is. He ALWAYS gets flack from fashion police about not wearing a tie when he should, so what does he do? He wears a tie no one can see. BRILLIANT.

Movie Review: Due Date

Hey, hey! Look what it is: a new RDJ movie! You guys must know by now how much I love Robert Downey Jr, so it should come as no surprise that I saw this movie the night it came out. And here, for everyone who isn't sure if they want to see it... a SPOILER FREE review!

So many critics have said bad things about this movie, but to be completely honest, I  really enjoyed it. It didn't blow my mind, and I didn't feel like it was to the caliber of a Forgetting Sarah Marshall or other favorite comedies, but it was fun and I did laugh pretty consistently.

Robert plays a pretty stiff business man with an anger problem. Zach Galifianakis plays pretty much what he was in The Hangover, a goofy socially-awkward misfit who can't help but cause trouble all the time. When a few miscommunications land them both on the "no fly" list, they are stuck together on a crazy trip back to Los Angeles. From there, it's kind of easy to see where the story is going, crazy situation to crazy situation, but there are still a few plots twists that keep you guessing. And a long with that, these characters also have more to them than might be expected. Galifianakis's Ethan is a mess, but there are moments of seriousness where you see more in him. Same for Robert's Peter. He's an angry man who has a lot of trouble dealing with this crazy man, but there are moments you see some real tenderness and caring from his character. I liked those moments because it added a little more to the movie and made it better than just a silly comedy.

Overall, I liked it a lot. You will not be wasting your time or money as long as you aren't looking for a life-changing earth-shattering comedy. It was fun, smart, and a little outrageous. It's a good movie to go see if you want to go out with the friends or the significant other.Check it out! I'll be seeing it again.

Movie Review: Iron Man 2

It will probably be no surprise to anyone that I ABSOLUTELY loved everything about Iron Man 2. So as to not sound redundant I guess I'll say that it was SO FREAKING AWESOME AND FUN just this one time, and then I'll go into it a bit deeper from here. More than likely, spoilers will be present below.

Firstly I have to talk about my biggest squee, which was definitely the fact that Robert Downey Jr. was greatness in this role. I am SO THANKFUL that he was cast as Iron Man in the first one and that it helped to bring RDJ back. He is one of those actors who is completely cool without even trying. He makes wit and charisma look easy and it's irresistable. Tony Stark has to be the kind of character that is a complete ass, but at the same time can charm the pants right off of you. He has to make you think "Hmf, I should hate him for being such a prick... but I just CAN'T!" In this way, Robert Downey Jr is the perfect Tony Stark.

Another casting triumph for me was Whiplash. I personally just adore Mickey Rourke far beyond normal explanation, but he also did a really great job in the role. He was intimidating and powerful, and I thought the accent was pretty great. And his LOOK! The hair with the white streaks, and even the white patch in his beard... the gold teeth, the tattoos. And I LOVE that he always had a tooth-pick in his mouth, even when he was trying to destroy and blow stuff up. The only thing I wish was that he had punched Sam Rockwell's character, Hammer, in the face. Could he have BEEN more sniveling and pathetic? Vanko could have snapped him like a twig, but he never did. And I REALLY wanted that to happen, hah!

Of course the chemistry between Tony and Pepper was ever-present and continued to tease us throughout the film, but THANKFULLY the tension paid off at the end. Our two stubborn love birds finally locked lips on top of a building at the end after Tony clad in his Iron Man suite saved Pepper from an explosion. If you can't kiss the man after that, when can you? And of course the kiss was characteristically fraught with witty banter and arguing between the two, which made it that much cuter. When this moment finally happened, I physcially and audibly sighed. I was SO READY for it, and honestly, wished there had been more!

Pepper Potts is such an awesome character. I love how strong she is and her ability to keep up with someone like Tony Stark . She's not a super hero and she doesn't know how to fight in hand to hand combat, but she is smart and confident and powerful in her own way.

As for the movie itself, it was so much fun! I could sit and watch Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark for hours because he's just so witty and funny while being a badass at the same time. I liked watching Stark try and come to terms with who he is, what he wants to do with his technology and his legacy, and how to handle his feelings for Pepper. And the harmony between RDJ and John Favreau onscreen was hilarious. I love that Favreau allows himself some screen time. The pacing was very different from the first movie, and in my opinion, it was an improvement. The only thing I thought was surprising was the final battle. It was pretty fast compared to first movie, and because of the build up to it, it kind of felt as though it was a bit too easy. But that's not really even a bad thing. In fact, I may change my mind about the final battle with Whiplash after the next time I see it (as a plan to see it a few more times for sure).

Overall IM2 = Epic WIN. But was there ever any question that I would feel this way? HAH!

And now, with my review complete, I'll leave you with some of my favorite quotes from the quotes from the movie (basically in order best I could organize)! Those of you who have seen it will certainly recognize them, and if you have any that you loved that I left out, feel free to add yours in the comments!

------------------------------------------
Jarvis: "I must say, sir, it's nice to see you in a video with your clothes on for a change."

Heckler: "BLOW SOMETHING UP!"
Tony: "Blow something up?? I already did that."

Tony: "I serve the American people at the pleasure of ... myself. And one thing you can always count on me to do is pleasure myself."

Tony: "Don't say wind farm. I'm already feeling gassy"

Pepper: "Did you just make that?"
Tony: "Yeah. Where do you think I've been for the last three hours?"

Tony: "Hey DJ, give me a fat beat to kick my buddy's ass to!"

Hammer: "If it were any smarter, it'd write a book that would make Ulysses look like it was written in crayon. And it would read it to you.."

Nick Fury: "Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the doughnut!"

Tony: "I'm sorry. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot. Do I look at the patch or the eye?"

Tony: "I told you I don't want to join your super secret boyband."

Nick Fury: "He took it? You're Iron Man and he just took it?! The little brotha walked in there, kick ya ass and took yo suit!"

Pepper: "I need you..."
Tony : "I need you too! That's what I'm trying to say..."
Pepper : "...to leave now"

Tony: "That tasted like coconut and metal."

Pepper: "You're dying?! Why didn't you tell me?!"
Tony: "I was going to make you an omelet and tell you...! WE COULD BE IN VENICE RIGHT NOW."

Rhodey: "You two look like seals fighting over a grape."

Rhodey: "Get a roof."

Tony: "'Mr. Stark displays compulsive behaviour.' In my own defense that was last week. 'Prone to self-destructive tendencies.' I was DYING. I mean please. And aren't we all? 'Textbook narcism ?' ... Agreed."

No not, mine... I wish. But my friend who lives in Austin, TX got to see Iron Man last week at an advanced fan screening and MET Robert Downey Jr!

I've decided to post it today in honor of the release of the movie and the fact that I am seeing it tonight, finally! My review to come, and Kevin's to come too! Follow us both to see what we think. :)

Gearing Up for Iron Man 2!

So I've been beside myself lately with adoration for Robert Downey Jr, so it goes without saying that I'm absolutely extatic about Iron Man 2 coming out next week. In fact, I've been trying to find a cute Iron Man T-shirt for me to wear to the midnight showing. However the only one I've found for girls so far is this one, and for some reason, Iron Man is holding an electric guitar. Now I know Robert Downey Jr. makes music, but didn't realize that Iron Man was also a rock star...

Anyways, to hold me over (and maybe whoever else is having a hard time waiting until next week) I've decided to blog a few IM2 treats! Just like before every big movie release, there has been a TON of media coverage and interviews, photoshoots, etc. So here are some of my favorite things in magazines right now.
Our main Iron Man is splashed across the cover of Men's Journal. Inside there is a great article and one full page of a montage of pictures that I LOVE. Really shows his adorable and goofy personality. Gotta love it.

Mr. Downey Jr graces the cover of Rolling Stone! I need to get to the store ASAP to grab my copy of this one. And I love the little subtitle about him. Hardass, flake, and an Iron Man, too. Yup!

And now, my absolute FAVORITE thing I've run across so far, the ScarJo + RDJ photoshoot from USA Weekend! They are SO cute. One of my favorite things is when actors in movies are cute and friendly in real life, and Robert is the KING of being cutesy with his co-stars.

I mean, COME ON!! How cute is that?!?!?!?

What I've found interesting about the way they are marketing this movie is that they are throwing RDJ and ScarJo out there together as though they are the two main characters. I guess they are the two biggest stars in the movie...? Or the two hottest... I know they are sexing the franchise up with Scarlett, but it was just interesting to see Scarlett and Robert together instead of RDJ and Gweneth. When I was looking up pictures from the movie itself, one of the most viewed ones is this one to the right. I guess a hot chick with a super hero is just something everyone likes... but Gweneth is pretty hot too, Haha.

What I really don't want to happen is for Tony Stark to be the douche bag I think most people expect him to be and get all up on Scarlett. Pepper Potts is just too freaking awesome. And BY GOD there better be some Stark on Potts action in IM2. I am ready for Tony to grab Pepper, tip her over, and kiss the crap out of her. The chemistry in the first one was so great, I could hardly handle that the closest they come to kissing was that tipsy moment Pepper had on the terrace. Kiss her, Stark! DO IT.

And now! Some red carpet treats. This is from the world premiere earlier this week. Did you guess that I am about to post lots of pictures of RDJ and Susan? Good job, because OMG it's true. LOVE ME SOME SUSAN DOWNEY!

But first things first. The star, himself. And wearing awesome red-lenses to match the red in his tie. Only RDJ can pull it off. (Remember his powder blue lense to match his bow-tie and sneakers at the Oscars?)

Downey greets Paltrow. MMMM so precious! And she's looking HOT in that shorts suit!

Uh, I can hardly handle how adorable this is.

Tah-dah, arm candy. For both of them.

MMMM, full length shot! I love RDJ in sneakers... and Gwen in cuff sandal pumps!

Wah-wah? Who's there? Is it SUSAN DOWNEY? The real star of this red carpet?! It is!! Wearing a beautiful navy dress that reminds me of the dress Tina Fey wore to the SAG awards.

What a GORGEOUS couple. I love them SO MUCH CAN'T HANDLE IT.

I freaking love this picture. I love the way he's looking at the little boy and I love the way the little boy is looking at him. What are they talking about? I have no idea, but I bet it's pure awesome. So cute.

HOORAY FIREWORKS!
The end.

And now, to end with something SUPER fun and Iron Man related: How It Should Have Ended - The Iron Man edition. If you haven't checked this site out, YOU HAVE GOT TO DO IT! They have funny "should have ended" endings for some of the best movies, my personal favorite being Lord of the Rings. This Iron Man one is no exception and, in my opinion, ranks among the funniest they've done! Check it out. The conversation between Batman, Superman, and Iron Man at the end is reason enough to watch it.

BD-Live Chat with Robert Downey Jr (*explode*)

No, I do NOT have a blue ray player, nor did I buy Sherlock Holmes on blue ray... and therefore, NO I did not get to do the AMAZING AND AWESOME live chat with RDJ as we watch the movie together (which, if you know me would have been one of the best days EVER for me). However, that doesn't mean I didn't have a spy or two in the chat with RDJ to TELL ME WHAT THE HECK WAS UP with my main man. Not a lot of insight, but a WHOLE lot of silly and hilarious comments.

This is the conversation I had with Kevin mostly during the duration of the chat. It begins when I read his status on facebook: "live community screening of Sherlock Holmes hosted by Robert Downey Jr!"

Audree: I hate you so much right now. Tell RDJ I love him.
Kevin: i'll ask if he wants to leave Susan and marry you instead
Audree: Omg!!! Haha. I'd never want to break them up because I love her! ;D
Kevin: lol at technical difficulties
Audree :Tell them to fix it for the mighty RDJ!
Kevin: he reacted in a silly english accent delcaring "Stop the film!"
Audree: Kevin, you're killing me!!! Gah he's so adorable.

Kristen: F[RI]KKKKK technical difficulties!! robert and susan are so adorable omg
Kevin: yeah they are
Audree: I know right. They need to have babies. Kevin tell RDJ to have babies!
Kevin: I asked him about his bromance with Jude Law too
Kevin: Kristen your question just showed up!!!!!!
Audree: Uuuuuuuh. I'm DYING!!!!!!

Kevin: OMG HE JUST SAID HE LOVES ALL OF US FANS!!!!!
Kevin: "Double vests!!!!"
Audree: I'm a fan! He loves me! That includes me dammit!!!!! Gah this is slow torture.
Kevin: "It tasted like rock. That's not my bag, really."
Audree: What is he referring this adorableness to?
Kevin: When he licked the rock in the graveyard
Audree: UUUHHH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH I WANT TO STAB YOU!
Kevin: he says he's a huge fan of Chris Nolan and Martin Scorsese and that he loved Shutter Island
Audree: I LOVE THIS MAN. LOVE HIM.

Kevin: He confirmed Moriarty will be a significant role in the sequel
Audree: Of course it will! Gary Oldman. TELL RDJ TO GET SOME OLDMAN FOR THE SEQUEL.
Kevin: He freeze framed it on the scene where Rachel kisses him and said it was the happiest moment of her career, with his lovely, unshaved, scrunched up old man face
Audree: BAHAHAHAHAH!!! WINNER.

Kevin: talking about a possible Tropic Thunder sequel
Audree: OH MY GOD. Wait...
Audree: SUSAN IS ON!?!?!??!?! WHY LIFE WHY?
Kevin: she's been there the whole time
Audree: I hate my life
Kevin: bahahaha

Kevin: he just used Kirk [from Tropic Thunder] voice and said "What the f[ri]ck is all these ravens doin all over the place? Ma'am, now just chill out. I'm a professional. You about to give me some'in special. How come you didn't leave no chocolates on the pillow?"
Audree: RDJ should rule the world. [I really wish Kirk would do commentary on ALL his movies!]

Audree: anything else amazing and unfair being talked about?
Kevin: nothing stands out at the moment
Audree: except his amazing and unfair presence in your life right now

Audree: Tell him to get his Poe on
Kevin: asked about Poe; no answer thus far
Audree: SPAM HIM WITH POE, but with love. Love spam.

Kevin: he and Susan said they love all the innocent fan crushes
Audree: AWEz!! Well I have a crush on BOTH of them. (Hopefully they'll listen to us and have babies)

Kevin: OMG HE JUST ANSWERED ONE OF MY QUESTIONS
Audree: OMG WHICH ONE?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

~INTERMISSION WHILE WAITING FOR KEVIN TO ANSWER~
Audree: gah Kevin won't tell me the question. It better be "YES I WILL FOR AUDREE" to the question "Will you play Poe ever?"
Matt: THAT would be amazingness on a silver platter. just sayin...

Kevin: i wished him happy birthday and he went "awe, thank you so much"
Audree: *dead*

Kevin: My question was a reminder of sorts because they touched on the symbolism of the ravens around the middle of the film and asked the fans to remind them. So my question was "just a reminder, what's with the raven in the bridge scene?" So they thanked me for reminding them and said the ravens were originally going to be conceptually a hint at the eyes of the true occult
Audree: THEY! The DOWNEYs?
Kevin: ...but then they decided it should be pure symbolism and be either a sign of good, evil, or justice arriving. They initially settled on justice, in that each person that died when a raven showed up was a wicked person, including the templars. Then Susan and Robert kind of agreed that it could also be evil
especially on the bridge scene because the idea was that Blackwood had kind of created and/or unleashed this evil and that it was too big to control and it had come back to bite him.
Kevin: And then they saw that i had wished Robert Happy Birthday and he was all "awe thank you" and was all cuddly about it.
Audree: He was cuddly to you!!! So special and unfair!

Kevin: He called me "good man" when i reminded them of the ravens. I was like MANCRUSH
Audree: TOTALLY!

So needless to say this whole fiasco of being on the outside looking into a room filled with RDJ awesomeness has WITHOUT DOUBT convinced me to get a blue ray player ASAP. Good job blue ray, your shameless ploy worked.
