Top 5: Memorable Fashion from Grammys/BAFTA Weekend 2012

5. Michelle Williams at the BAFTAs

I like this dress on her because it's very classy. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, especially with that hair do. However, I don't like the harsh lipstick nor the weird yellow color of her hair. I think the color should be toned down because both make her face look too harsh instead of softening her. Overall, she looks gorgeous, regardless.

4. Kate Beckinsale at the Grammys

Not sure why she was at the Grammys, but did she EVER look more smoking hot than she does in this dress? No. It's so playful and sassy but so elegant at the same time. Unbelievable.

3. Kristen Wiig at the BAFTAs

SHE. LOOKS. SO. GREAT. I usually always have something to say about her looks, but THIS is just fantastic. No reservations, she looks perfectly gorgeous.

2. Rihanna at the Grammys

Everyone thinks they know what I am going to say about this one, but they are wrong. I actually LIKED what she wore for a change. It's like she finally figured out that being a complete slut isn't sexy and that showing a little less IS. Plunging neck line and peek-a-boo back WORK with this dress because it's not TOO much. The slit is a perfect height, it is just gorgeous. The dress is perfectly tailored as well. I like it. Now the hair... not a fan... but every thing else. Yes.

1. Fergi at the Grammys

What the actual... I cannot even with this. WHAT IS YOUR UNDERWEAR SHOWING FOR? You look awful. UNACCEPTABLE.

Top 5: Best and Worst Dressed Emmys 2011

I know that it has been a while that I have been absent from my blog, but this entry marks my triumphant return! And I am back with one of my favorite things to write about: FASHION! I love awards shows and the Emmys red carpet did not disappoint. Here are my top 5 best and worst dressed of last night, starting with the BEST:

BEST DRESSED:

#5. Cobie Smulders in Alberta Ferretti
I was so thankful for this pop of color on the red carpet. She was one of the only ones who wore this shade of blue. LOVE it. I kind of wish the top was a little more interesting, but the back was really pretty. I thought, overall, this was a refreshing look for that evening.

#4. Kelly Osbourne in J Mendel
I loved what Kelly did! She is so precious and this shape makes her look FABULOUS. I loved it. It's very Keira at the Oscars circa 2006. Not as good as KK, but still beautiful.

#3. Christina Hendricks in Johanna Johnson
I LOVE this look. Xtina gets a lot of criticism, but I think she is one of the most beautiful women ever, and this dress is perfect on her. I like the elegant details on it, and that the gems create a pattern. I like the slit and the way it fits on her. There's cleavage without being TOO MUCH, and the shimmery silver goes nicely with her skin tone. Plus her hair and make-up are flawless. She looks great.

#2. Julia Stiles in Georges Hobeika
She looked like a GODDESS. I thought this odd silvery/lavender color looked great on her skin. The details/shape of this dress made her look curvier than she has EVER looked in her life. So beautiful. The only thing I would change is I would have added a necklace or something. But that's IT. Otherwise, PERFECT.

#1. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang
I don't even ... what can be said.... SEX. She looks PERFECT. There are no other words. She is sexy and classy and beautiful. The end. I even love those enormous earrings! I just... can't even. ♥

Now onto THE WORST DRESSED!

#5. Kristen Wiig in Zac Posen
I liked this look, I just think her make-up is TOO MUCH. It doesn't match the rest of her skin... it's a little orange... and kind of makes her look a little dirty. But... the dress I liked and I thought she looked pretty on screen. It just doesn't photograph well.

#4. Dianna Agron in Roksanda Ilincic
I was SO disappointed in this look. I was looking forward to her wearing something so edgy, and she came out looking like she was wearing something an old lady would wear. I like the color, but that's about it. I don't like what they did with her hair, especially since this is the first big awards show since she got her new spunky hair cut. I wanted to see her work that. I hate the way the dress is draped across her chest, looking like she is hiding something. YOU ARE YOUNG AND HOT. Stop frumping it. I just don't... understand. And then the dark fingernail and toenail polish confuses me as well. Don't like what we can see of the shoes... don't like the clutch... fail.

#3. Jayma Mays in Zuhair Murad
I hate dresses with sleeves. This is no exception. I don't like sleeves. I do, however like the color and the overall theory of this look. I wish the tiers weren't SO tulle-y and that she had torn the sleeves off, but I get what she was trying to do. Make up good, hair good. Maybe with so much pink there should not have been a pink clutch as well, but... that's certainly not the worst part about this look.

#2. Heidi Klum in Christian Siriano
Heidi... thank God you are who you are. Because otherwise I'd think you were on crack last night. This is stupid, even on her, but it's LESS stupid because it's on her. But the moral of this story... is that it is still stupid.(Kind of reminds me of Drew Barrymore's weird sea-urchin dress from last year.)

 #1. Gwyneth Paltrow in Pucci
Ugh... UGH! What the heck is even going on here? Not only is this see-through... and she's showing her midriff... it's the most AWKWARD part of her midriff! The top only, no navel... it's like... "look at my awkward rib cage... ONLY." I don't get it. It's SO trashy, and... I am SO over this peek-a-boo skin thing where these women wear dresses that make us think we see their entire body. STOP IT. It looks slutty on Rhianna, and it looks STUPID on you, Gwen. Not to mention, the details on the outside are just ... weird and oddly place. This whole look is awful. I hate it. HATE IT.

Top 5: Best and Worst dressed Oscars 2011

No intro necessary... let's just DO THIS! (Add your own individual comments per photo about these looks PLUS 20 others here!!)

WORST DRESSED

5. Amy Adams in L'Wren SCott
I HATE SLEEVES. Especially ones that are shaped like a muscle shirt some chubby guy in the gym made himself. I AM NOT OK WITH THIS TREND. Please make it stop. Also... I like the color and the shimmer... but other than that... it's boring. I don't like her hair down like that. It looks pretty but not dressy enough for the Oscars. Maybe if it were paired with a different dress it would look fancier... but no. Just no. This doesn't work like it should. Also... if you have no neck line you CANNOT wear a necklace. Especially one with a weird turquoise rock.

4. Marisa Tomei in Charles James
Um, not ok. UGLY. Not even a good color. In fact, the poof is a different color than the rest of the dress.  And the way it fits makes her little pooch show so much. UNCOOL STYLIST. UNCOOL.

3. Halle Berry in Marchesa
Well isn't THIS a big wad of tulle? And also it has an over-rated actress stuck in it. The top isn't bad... but then as your eyes travel down... um, yeah.

2. Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer
GAH. Not only is this dress a hot mess, but so is her hair. I don't understand these women who make choices that make them look old, but OH MY GAH STOP! She is already an older lady, but could look really pretty and young if she would just make better fashion choices. Her hair is just bad. It looks like she threw it up to go to the gym. As for the dress... it's just weird. And again... SLEEVES! I just... no... there is nothing more I can say. Fail.

1. Lea Michele in Roberto Cavalli
This is the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Um, it looks like she found Mistique from X-Men, clubbed her over the head, and then stole her skin to make this hideous dress. SLEEVES ARE NOT OK! NO MATTER WHAT LENGTH. PLEASE LORD MAKE IT STOP.

BEST DRESSED
5. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
At first I was like WTF? But the more I look at this dress, the more I love it. It's so strange and beautiful, it's like a moving piece of art. Especially the back! The details all over it are just gorgeous and Cate works it LIKE A BOSS.

4. Helena Bonham Carter in Colleen Atwood
What can be said? Helena rocks her own version of the red carpet every time, and she never disappoints. What she said this night was "I thought it better to celebrate film rather than fashion," and that was the inspiration for this Victorian-esque gown. Totally and uniquely Helena. You go, Bellatrix.

3. Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa
This sweet little thing, I just love her. And she looks precious. Just perfect. She has done a GREAT job this season dressing up and keeping it classy without trying too hard. Plus, all her stuff has been age appropriate. This one is gorgeous. I love that the top goes sheer and so the crystals look like they are just across her shoulders. So precious. And her updo has a head band to keep it young. She is one of my absolute favorites of this year.

2. Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture
She was just breathtaking! This color is amazing, the fabric is amazing... Ashlie made a comment that her chest looked amazing... all these things are true!!! She was one of my most anticipated looks of the night, and she did not disappoint. JUST GORGEOUS.

1. Natalie Portman in Rodarte
Oh my precious little vessel! (This has become my favorite way to refer to her. It may get old, but I LIKE IT.) She was absolutely my most anticipated of the night and SHE DID WONDERFULLY! I LOVED this dress soooo much. I loved that it was slightly higher in the front than the back so we could see her adorable shoes. I love that the top hoisted up her awesome pregnancy boobs in a classy way. I love that the fabric drapes across her bump without making it look huge but at the same time not completely hiding it. AND THE COLOR! SO gorgeous. She just looks perfect. It was absolutely what I hoped to see her do on the Oscar red carpet and she did it!

BONUS!!!
(Just some other things I loved about this weekend...)
Natalie Portman in Givenchy at the Spirit Awards from Saturday:
She looked ADORABLE!!! I can hardly handle it.

RDJ and his wife, Susan, in Prada at the Oscars:
I CANNOT handle how awesome Robert is. He ALWAYS gets flack from fashion police about not wearing a tie when he should, so what does he do? He wears a tie no one can see. BRILLIANT.

Oscar 2011 Party/Reactions!

It was FINALLY the Oscars last night, the night so many film nerds were waiting for, and I couldn't have spent it at a better party.

MY PARTY!
I decorated my apartment and I got all dressed up and had two of my CRAZIEST Oscar friends over to watch and squee with me throughout the ceremony. It was a glorious time. Fun was had by all. I know that a lot of people are giving the ceremony some flack, but you know what? To me, the Oscars is such a beautiful tradition. No matter what, I think it's special and deserves some respect just for being what it is: a chance to see so many of our favorite stars all in one place, dressed up and mingling with each other. It's ok to celebrate that phenomenon and pay it respect  no matter what film you wish had won, or how you wish the awards would have been announced, or who you wish would have been there. It's classic Hollywood being revived once a year, and I like it. A LOT. So that's what Ashlie, Stacy, and I were celebrating last night! Along with rooting for a few of our FAVORITE people/movies.

Yes we EVEN had our very own red carpet! Which Stacy, Ashlie, and I walked when placing our DELICIOUS snacks on the dinner table. Ashlie made all these wonderful things for the party (all her ideas!), and each dish represented one of the 10 Best picture Nominees! Check it out. This may be my favorite part of the entire night... (well.... maybe besides Christian Bale's win! But we'll get to that). BEHOLD:

Look at all the lovely goodies! Firstly, some Oscar shaped cookies. MMMMM.
THE BP FOOD!
Irish grilled cheese (complete with ACTUAL imported Dublin cheese) for The Fighter!

Black Swan cupcakes. Complete with a bloody red center!

True Grit balls (fried grits!), and tater tots to represent Mr. Potato Head from toy Story 3.

FAVORITE. Trifles with LAYERS to represent INCEPTION. OH MAH GUH!

Red wine for The Kids Are All Right.

These are the cutest. The outside are Winter's Bone-less chicken nuggets, and the pigs in a blanket are supposed to be for 127 Hours. It's an arm stuck between a two rocks.

English Toffee for The King's Speech.
The food was just amazing! And we had so much fun chomping on it and preparing it (sometimes at the same time) while the red carpet was being covered on E! Ever so often someone we loved would arrive and we'd all drop what we were doing and run in our heels to stand in front of the TV in awe and squee a little bit. Then we'd rush back to the kitchen and try to finish what we were doing before the ceremony began.

WE FLY.

Here's what my reaction face would be if I won an Oscar

Here is Stacy's best try at the Helena Bonham Carter

And then.... it was TIME FOR THE SHOW!!!!
CEREMONY REACTIONS!

The show, overall, for me and my gals, was so much fun! We love Anne Hathaway and James Franco and even though they weren't perfect, they were so much fun and just adorable the entire time. I especially loved Anne's musical number. She needs to be in a musical....tomorrow.

As for the awards, I think last night was one of my favorite Oscars ever. I had seen all 10 best picture nominees and I liked so many of them that I didn't really care which one won Best Picture. Of course, there were two awards that I REALLY needed to go my way, or they had the potential to really ruin my night. One was Best Actress, which I needed to go to Natalie Portman. Thankfully it did, and that sweet little vessel of life got her first Oscar! She accepted the award in her deep purple Rodarte dress and just glowed with emotion. Such a sweet moment.

The other award I needed to go my way (especially because it was early on and could have really messed up the night) was Best Supporting Actor. Christian Bale, as most of you know, if one of my favorite actors. I've loved him going on 7 years, and all Bale-heads feel the same way: that Christian Bale is the most under-rated, under-appreciated, and over-looked actor in the entire world. So when the buzz began for him earlier in the year, I didn't want to get my hopes up. Then he actually got nominated over and over until the Oscars nominated him, too! He had to momentum all season, but getting close people started to doubt. Especially since he lost the BAFTA to Rush of The King's Speech, which was gaining momentum. As they announced the nominees, Ashlie (who loves him just as much as me, if not more) and I were holding hands. We couldn't stand it! They finally announced Christian's name and Ashlie and I completely freaked out. What a victory for him, and for his fans who have always felt he deserves this honor! I think Ashlie even teared up during his speech. It was emotional, haha.

Here's Christian's speech:

And here is Ashlie and I reacting as it's happening:
It was truly a magical moment! And just overall a magical night. And to share it with two people I know care about it as much as I do and won't judge me for getting excited about the little things... that was the best part of all! Now I just can't wait for next year!!

Top 5: Favorite Oscar Looks Ever

Gearing up for the BIG DAY, here is a fun little count down to whet your appetite for the red carpet we'll see tomorrow!

5. Sandra Bullock in 2010
Sandy B looked like the golden statue she won that evening. Perfection.

4. Anne Hathaway in 2009
This was one of the first moments I really saw her as an elegant and grown up woman. This dress helped to define her in the eyes of many as a serious and beautiful actress!

3. Marion Cotillard in 2008
I remember being in AWE of this look. The scales could have come off really weird and ugly... but she carried herself with such grace, she looked GORGEOUS and the Mermaid look showed through. Just beautiful.

2. Michelle Williams in 2006
I remember just drooling all over myself when I saw this look. I couldn't believe how perfectly put together she looked. It was an odd choice, and yet everything worked just WONDERFULLY. I loved this.

1. Keira Knightley in 2006
No one should be surprised that this is my number one. This year was the best year ever for me (besides 2004 when Return of the King won EVERYTHING and all my favorites were there), because Keira was up for best actress and so she was forced to walk the red carpet in a luscious Chanel dress! She's.... I can't even, you guys... WOW.

Thanks E! Online for this idea. :)
