Top 5: Best and Worst dressed Oscars 2011

No intro necessary... let's just DO THIS! (Add your own individual comments per photo about these looks PLUS 20 others here!!)

WORST DRESSED

5. Amy Adams in L'Wren SCott
I HATE SLEEVES. Especially ones that are shaped like a muscle shirt some chubby guy in the gym made himself. I AM NOT OK WITH THIS TREND. Please make it stop. Also... I like the color and the shimmer... but other than that... it's boring. I don't like her hair down like that. It looks pretty but not dressy enough for the Oscars. Maybe if it were paired with a different dress it would look fancier... but no. Just no. This doesn't work like it should. Also... if you have no neck line you CANNOT wear a necklace. Especially one with a weird turquoise rock.

4. Marisa Tomei in Charles James
Um, not ok. UGLY. Not even a good color. In fact, the poof is a different color than the rest of the dress.  And the way it fits makes her little pooch show so much. UNCOOL STYLIST. UNCOOL.

3. Halle Berry in Marchesa
Well isn't THIS a big wad of tulle? And also it has an over-rated actress stuck in it. The top isn't bad... but then as your eyes travel down... um, yeah.

2. Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer
GAH. Not only is this dress a hot mess, but so is her hair. I don't understand these women who make choices that make them look old, but OH MY GAH STOP! She is already an older lady, but could look really pretty and young if she would just make better fashion choices. Her hair is just bad. It looks like she threw it up to go to the gym. As for the dress... it's just weird. And again... SLEEVES! I just... no... there is nothing more I can say. Fail.

1. Lea Michele in Roberto Cavalli
This is the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Um, it looks like she found Mistique from X-Men, clubbed her over the head, and then stole her skin to make this hideous dress. SLEEVES ARE NOT OK! NO MATTER WHAT LENGTH. PLEASE LORD MAKE IT STOP.

BEST DRESSED
5. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture
At first I was like WTF? But the more I look at this dress, the more I love it. It's so strange and beautiful, it's like a moving piece of art. Especially the back! The details all over it are just gorgeous and Cate works it LIKE A BOSS.

4. Helena Bonham Carter in Colleen Atwood
What can be said? Helena rocks her own version of the red carpet every time, and she never disappoints. What she said this night was "I thought it better to celebrate film rather than fashion," and that was the inspiration for this Victorian-esque gown. Totally and uniquely Helena. You go, Bellatrix.

3. Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa
This sweet little thing, I just love her. And she looks precious. Just perfect. She has done a GREAT job this season dressing up and keeping it classy without trying too hard. Plus, all her stuff has been age appropriate. This one is gorgeous. I love that the top goes sheer and so the crystals look like they are just across her shoulders. So precious. And her updo has a head band to keep it young. She is one of my absolute favorites of this year.

2. Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Couture
She was just breathtaking! This color is amazing, the fabric is amazing... Ashlie made a comment that her chest looked amazing... all these things are true!!! She was one of my most anticipated looks of the night, and she did not disappoint. JUST GORGEOUS.

1. Natalie Portman in Rodarte
Oh my precious little vessel! (This has become my favorite way to refer to her. It may get old, but I LIKE IT.) She was absolutely my most anticipated of the night and SHE DID WONDERFULLY! I LOVED this dress soooo much. I loved that it was slightly higher in the front than the back so we could see her adorable shoes. I love that the top hoisted up her awesome pregnancy boobs in a classy way. I love that the fabric drapes across her bump without making it look huge but at the same time not completely hiding it. AND THE COLOR! SO gorgeous. She just looks perfect. It was absolutely what I hoped to see her do on the Oscar red carpet and she did it!

BONUS!!!
(Just some other things I loved about this weekend...)
Natalie Portman in Givenchy at the Spirit Awards from Saturday:
She looked ADORABLE!!! I can hardly handle it.

RDJ and his wife, Susan, in Prada at the Oscars:
I CANNOT handle how awesome Robert is. He ALWAYS gets flack from fashion police about not wearing a tie when he should, so what does he do? He wears a tie no one can see. BRILLIANT.

  2. I COMPLETELY AGREE about Amy Adams. I cursed that stupid dress all night long. It was awful. Pure tragedy.
I also hated Melissa Leo's dress, and although I hadn't seen Lea Michele's, I now hate that too. No idea where the sleeve trend is coming from, but it's really terrible.
I completely DISagree, though, about Marisa Tomei. I loved that dress. I don't see pooch, I just saw curvy real woman in a dress out of her own closet. I thought she looked old-school classy.
Mostly, though, if I can just say one thing (which, obvs, I never can)... Natalie Portman is DIVINE. She just wins.

  3. Hooray! Fashion is almost the best part of the awards season! And this year was pretty good. There wasn't really anything that was absolutely AMAZING, but there also weren't very many really bad looks either. It was mostly pretty darn good. I will have to look through everything and decide who my best and worst were.

I didn't think Amy Adams was terrible, but she wasn't that great. There's actually nothing about her outfit that I hate. But it's just nothing special.

Marisa Tomei looks pretty bad in pictures. On screen it wasn't that bad. It wasn't very good, but it didn't look as awkward. And I had no idea it was two different colors.

Harry Belly's dress isn't TOO bad. It looks dumb on her, but on someone else I would like it. And it would definitely be better without the tulle thrown up on the bottom.

And who gets ready for the Oscars knowing it is likely they will win and puts on a dress like Melissa Leo? Why? If you even THINK it's a possibility you could win, you look the MOST amazing you have ever looked in your life.

I agree that Lea Michele was probably the worst dressed. I don't really mind dresses with sleeves if it is done right, but that dress was really bad. And her hair made it even worse. That was a sad ending to her award season since she did so well at the other shows.

Cate Blanchett is always amazing. She definitely didn't disappoint this year. That dress was absolutely gorgeous and so visually interesting. She didn't really do anything with her hair, but with a dress that interesting, you don't really need to do much.

This is probably one of my favorite looks from Helena Bonham Carter. She's always so hilarious and wonderful! I look forward to seeing her at each show. I love her hair. It's just so romantic to me. And I love seeing her and Tim Burton together. One of my favorite couples!

Hailee looked adorable! She is such a little fashionista and it's her first try! She did great at all the shows. Precious.

I think my best dressed was just slightly different than yours. Just flip Natalie and Mila! I loved Natalie to death, but I liked Mila's look just a tad better. She really knocked it out of the park this season. She is my favorite overall.

    Can't wait for next year!!

  6. I agree with your picks. Amy Adams was a train wreck. I thought Halle Berry was awful...but Mila Kunis. She was def my best dressed of the night. When I saw her walk up, she literally took my breath away! She is such a beauty and this dress was fabulous!!!

I also feel the need to comment on Mandy Moore. 1. I didn't recognize her at first. She looked like an entirely different person. 2. Yes, she looked put together, but she looked SO OLD. I thought the hair and earrings killed that look. She is hot and sexy and she needs to dress like it.

...and how about Anne's electric blue dress?!?! HOT

  8. Most of the time we are on the same page, but I loooove Halle's and hated Helen Bonham's. Even though I agree on most= I looove Robert, of course. Natalie & Mila= beautiful (Yes, I can be objective), and hated Marissa & Melissa.
